Marisol Matute (b. La Rioja, Spain) received her degree in Medicine in 1989 at the University of Zaragoza. She completed her general surgery residence at the San Millan-San Pedro Hospital of Logroño (La Rioja). In 1999 she obtained a Diploma in Mastology from the Autonomous University of Madrid and in 2001 she won her Mastology Specialist Title from the same University. After her residency she moved to the General Hospital of Barbastro where she obtained a permanent position as F.E.A. in 2007. In 2010 she moved to "San Jorge" Hospital in Huesca and and in 2014 to the Universitary "Miguel Servet" Hospital in Zaragoza where she is currently developing her medical activity as surgeon. In 2016 she became Associate Professor of the University of Zaragoza. She has participated in several projects related to breast cancer and she is interested in the molecular basis of the metastatic process. In 2016 she joined the Bioorganic Chemistry group as a medical adviser and to collaborate in the research against cancer through inhibition of crucial proteins involved in the molecular recognition of cancer cells far from the primary tumor.
